Titans survive Black Bears, set up TAT finale with Aces

Hometown Passi Titans survived a big fourth-quarter rally from the Black Bears of Macau before preserving an 89-85 win and set up a titular showdown with The Aces in The Asian Tournament at the City of Passi Arena in Iloilo.

Two players came away with double-double performances for the Titans as Las Coulibaly poured in 19 points on top of 13 boards to lead the way for the home squad, which squandered another big lead, but showed endgame poise this time.

Coulibaly got a big help from Mousa Diona, who also had a double-double effort and finished with 16 points and 12 rebounds for Passi.

Passi’s bench delivered once more, scoring 31 as against Macau’s 14. The home team also got 34 points inside the shaded lane, 10 more than their counterparts.

Axel Doromal nearly had a double-double showing as he ended up with 11 markers to go along with eight assists.

Passi battles the Aces in the final day of competition on Sunday at 7 p.m. to determine the leg champion.
