The Indiana Pacers came out smoking hot when they visited the Rocket Arena on Monday at the start of their NBA second round playoff series against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Indiana’s 36 first-quarter points set the tone for the team’s early breakaway, allowing the Pacers to dictate the tempo of the game most of the way en route to a 121-112 win over the Cavaliers.
Tyrese Haliburton and Myke Turner each churned out double-double games while Andrew Nembhard also had a solid outing.
Haliburton, a member of Team USA which played in the FIBA World Cup in Manila two years ago, finished with 22 points and 13 assists while Turner, the Pacers’ starting center, contributed 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Three more Pacers also did their share in balance distribution of offense for Indiana.
Pascal Siakam and Aaron Nesmith had 17 points apiece while Benedict Mathurin chipped in 11 for the Pacers.
