NLEX repulses Ginebra rally; Rain or Shine outguns Blackwater in PBA

The NLEX Road Warriors are now beginning to build a winning run under head coach Jong Uichico.

Uichico, who was just been appointed as head mentor in the middle of the season, is getting pretty much settled with the Road Warriors.

The rest of the team began to show their new character after outlasting Barangay Ginebra, 89-86, in the PBA Philippine Cup on Wednesday night at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

Robert Bolick scattered 28 points while going perfect from the three-point region while Xyrus Torres and Brandon Ramirez each had 11 markers and Kevin Alas contributed 10 for the Road Warriors, who scored more points inside the paint compared to the Gin Kings, 46-32.

As a team, NLEX was also steadier shooting from the field, hitting 50.7% compared to Ginebra’s 39.3%.

Earlier, Rain or Shine won its shootout battle with Blackwater and prevailed, 120-106.

The Elasto Painters welcomed the return of Caelan Tiongson and Beau Belga, whose presence were enough to shore up the front court of the squad.

But it was Keith Datu, who played the biggest game of his career.

The 6-foot-8 Datu finished with a personal-high 27 points and eight rebounds while Adrian Nocum added 23 markers for the Elasto Painters. Tiongson, who missed the previous game due to an injury, added 14 points.

Belga, who played his first game of the conference after being sidelined by vertigo, saw action for just five minutes just to get the feel of the game.
