Saints bullish on defense, keep Falcons grounded

When things were not working well offensively, St. Clare turned its focus on the defensive end as the Saints grounded the Adamson Falcons, 65-48, on Thursday night in the National Developmental Sports League under-25 Basketball Series at the Metpark Sports Center.

The Saints held down the Falcons to just 34% shooting from the field all game long.

As early as the first period, the Saints made their presence felt on the defensive end, limiting the Falcons to just nine points.

The Saints were even more unforgiving in the fourth period when they held the Falcons to just six points and took the fight out of their rivals.

Justin Bautista and Moises Mandiria scattered 11 points apiece while Klint Manzano and Drick Acopsta had 10 each for the Saints, who were able to outrun their opopnents, producing 15 points on fast breaks while shutting down the Falcons on transition plays.
