TAT: Aces nip Dragons behind Alexander’s triple-double game

Xavier Alexander stuffed the stats sheet once more and powered the Aces to a gripping 117-111 hard-earned victory over Vantablack Dragons in The Asian Tournament at the City of Passi Arena in Iloilo.

The X-Man was at his usual more efficient form as the 36-year-old, 6-foot-6 forward pumped in 18 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and dished out 16 assists aside from making everybody on the team looked better.

Alexander’s solid game allowed the other members of the Aces to play their usual roles.

Denzel Wong was back comfortably taking over as the team’s top gun as the happy shooting guard pumped in 25 points.

Alfren Gayosa added 17 markers while Serhii Pryimak had another double-double game, finishing with 15 points and 16 boards. Monbert Arong added 10 for the Aces, who practically controlled the game for the most part, but found resistance from the Dragons down the stretch before snaring their second win in as many games.

So dominant were the Aces, whose inside game terrorized the Dragons. The Aces produced 72 points compared to only 34 for their rivals.

The Aces’ bench was also deeper as 45 points were provided by their shock troopers while their opponents were good for only nine markers.
