Marcelo, Hawkins power Lions past Smash to make U-25 NDSL finals

Daniel Marcelo took care of the offensive spunk while Lawrence Hawkins presided the toughness in rebounding as these two players complemented each other in leading San Beda to a 74-69 squeaker of the hard-fighting Smash team and enter the championship round of the under-25 division finals of the National Developmental Sports League Wednesday at the Metpark Sports Center.

Marcelo sizzled for 17 markers as he delivered the timely baskets needed by the Lions.

Hawking, on the other hand, had a near double-double performance of 13 points and nine rebounds.

The biggest story, however, was San Beda’s solid supporting crew as its bench produced 52 points, 20 points more than what its counterpart could provide.
