Facing a 17-9 deficit, the Taipans found their rhythm and, with Ry Dela Rosa at the helm, wrested control at 55-41 en route to their fourth win against 11 losses in the round-robin elimination phase of the 30-team tournament.
Dela Rosa, son of former pro Romy Dela Rosa and younger brother of Magnolia player Rome Dela Rosa, tallied 20 points, laced with five triples, and 3 rebounds to clinch best player honors over Dante Bernabe with 15 points, 15 rebounds and 2 assists, and Franz Diaz with 13 points, 5 rebounds, 8 assists and 2 steals.
Nino Ibanez contributed 13 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists, and Jayson Puray added 11 points and 10 rebounds for the Taipans, who snapped a four-game slide.
The Bataan Risers plunged to 6-11 despite Dom Vera’s 20 points, spiked by four triples, and 3 rebounds, and Yvez Sazon’s 19 points, including five triples, and 8 rebounds.
