Resident star Steph Curry played only 13 minutes, but that wasn’t much of a problem for the Golden State Warriors, who found more ways to pick up his lost numbers and presence.
With Buddy Hield, Jimmy Butler and even Draymond Green stepping up big offensively, the Warriors defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves in Game 1, 99-88, Wednesday at the Target Center in Minneapolis.
Curry played only 13 minutes due to a hamstring injury and could not even finish the first half, yet the Warriors found the resolve to win and get the job done on the road, putting more pressure on the Timberwolves in Game 2.
Butler flirted with a triple-double performance of 20 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists.
Offensively, it was Buddy Hield who rose to the challenge as he ended up with 24 points, including five three-point shots, but the biggest bonus came from Green, a defensive player and a notable glue guy of the squad through the years.
Green produced 18 points, eight rebounds and six assists while continue doing the dirty job for the team.
Without Curry, the Warriors were even transformed to becoming a defensive unit and they’ve shown that in the second period when they held the Wolves to only 11 markers.
