Tyrese Haliburton had silenced critics who claimed he was overrated and on Wednesday, he was business as usual in wrapping up the Eastern Conference semifinals against the Cleveland Cavaliers at the Rocket Arena in Cleveland.
Haliburton finished with 31 points, including six three-point shots, while dishing out eight assists in leading the Pacers to finish off the Cavaliers in Game 5, 114-105, to make a return trip to the Eastern Conference finals against the winner of the Boston Celtics and New York Knicks.
Now the Pacers are not just headed to the Eastern Conference championship round as frequent visitors, but as a team that has a strong potential of winning it all.
The last time the Pacers won the Eastern Conference title was 25 years ago when the great Larry Bird was still handling the team that has veteran Reggie Miller and rising star Jalen Rose as the cornerstones of the squad.
This year’s batch of Pacers are primed to win it altogether with Haliburton leading the way and a solid supporting cast of Pascal Siakam, Andrew Nembhard, Aaron Nesmith, and Myles Turner backing him up.
