Despite the apology to Magnolia forward Zav Lucero on social media, hardworking veteran Cliff Hodge of Meralco didn’t escape the P100,000 fine and one-game suspension slapped on him by the Philippine Basketball Association.
This developed after Hodge’ ‘s wrestling-like move given to Lucero when the latter was attempting to break away from the basket during the game between the Hotshots and the Bolts two days ago.
While Hodge’s intention was to prevent a fastbreak, his actions sparked a near bench-clearing incident that saw players and coaches getting into the heat of the action.
Mon Jose, assistant coach of Magnolia, was also given a P20,000 fine for headbutting Hodge during the commotion that happened right at the Hotshots’ bench.
The people involved in the incident were summoned by PBA commissioner Willie Marcial and advised them to keep their emotions in check.
