For St. Clare, it’s not just about relying on anyone, but everyone, and on Wednesday, the Saints were able to generate points from every player who saw action in outplaying Smash, 78-67, in the National Developmental Sports League under-25 Basketball Series at the Metpark Sports Center.
Only one player ended up in double figures for the Saints — Klint Manzano, who had 11 points — but all 13 players fielded in by Jinnino Manansala produced points.
Proof enough was St. Clare’s bench production, which accounted for 43 of the team’s entire output, while Smash could only get 24 from its second unit.
The Saints also proved that basketball is more than just shooting buckets and everyone plays a valuable role.
Moses Mandiria scored only three points but grabbed 11 boards while Joco Bojorcelo was the top playmaker, dishing out seven assists.
