St. Clare defeated Keanzel Believers in a defensive battle on Tuesday, 60-51, to join opening day winners in the National Developmental Sports League Basketball Series under-25 division at the Metpark Arena.
No team was able to shoot better than 35.5% from the field, but the Saints found a way to win behind their relentless effort in rebounding.
St. Clare outrebounded Keanzel, 48-37, and that allowed the Saints extra possessions and more opportunities to score.
But the biggest advantage shown by the Siants was their bench depth as they produced 33 points, 11 more than their rivals.
Leading the way for the Saints were Lex Gazzingan and Angelo Ibañez who combined for 23 markers.
