The Asian Tournament: Black Bears devour Wildcats

The Black Bears of Macau had a feast day on Tuesday behind their Big Three of Xiangzhao Chao, Brandon Matano and Micek Cole Alexander, who churn out big numbers in leading their squad to an easy 123-96 beat down of the Fresh Kicks Gamu Wildcats in The Asian Tournament at the City of Passi Arena in Iloilo.

Triple-double games had been a regular thing in The Asian Tournament this early part of this leg and Matano was no different from joining the elite list of players whop achieved such feats.

Against the Wildcats, Matano toyed on their defense and used Tuesday’s game as a virtual playground, scoring 31 points, grabbing 12 boards and dishing out 14 assists.

So shifty was Matano that he showed versatility in almost all departments, but most notably his shooting prowess as he hit 9-of18 shots from the three-point region.

Offensively, it wasn’t Matano alone who proved to be more dangerous, but also Chao, who hit the lights out and knocked down nine three-point shots on his way to finish with 37 points.

Overall, Macau hit 25 treys, but took 74 attempts from down town.

Alexander had a double-double game of 27 points and 10 rebounds for the Black Bears, who bounced back strong after losing the first game against the Aces on Monday night.
