Winning proved to be sweeter the second time around for the New York Knicks, who once again stunned home team and reigning champion Boston Celtics, 91-90, at the TD Garden on Thursday.
The Knicks unloaded 30 fourth-quarter points, including two pressure-packed free throws from Jalen Brunson, before Mikal Bridges sealed the win for New York with a big steal coming off a turnover from Jayson Tatum that allowed the visiting squad to complete their two-game heist — and a chance to wrap up the series with victories at the Madison Square Garden.
Josh Hart played 43 minutes and finished the game with 23 points while Karl Anthony-Towns ended up with a double-double performance of 21 points and 17 boards in what was easily one of his better games as a Knick.
Brunson chipped in 17 markers on top of seven assists while Bridges added 14 points, seven boards, five assists and three steals in a solid, all-around game.
If the last bad possession was an indication, Tatum struggled all game long offensively as he only ended up with 13 points on 5-of-19 shooting from the field, although he did end up in double-double by grabbing 14 rebounds, dishing out five assists and completing three steals.
