Wong hits record 14 treys, scores 60 in Aces’ victory over Islanders

Denzel Wong had a share of his historic moment on Saturday as he tied the most points scored in a single game and propelled the Aces straight to the final match following a dominant 143-115 clobbering of Kalmado Islanders in The Asian Tournament at the City Arena of Passi in Iloilo.

As records are being set one after another, Wong made sure he’ll get the piece of the action. He set the record for most number of three-point shots in The Asian Tournament game with 14.

In the PBA, Jose Slaiughter, then an import playing for Hills Brothers Coffee of the old Alaska franchise, also hit the same number of treys in the 1987 Third Conference before Alan Caidic broke the mark four years later with 17 treys.

Wong’s remarkable feat also allowed him to finish with 60 points to join Ray Miller as the record holder for most points in a single game in The Asian Tournament.

With Wong catching fire, the stocky but shifty guard had already fired the warning shot for the Aces’ final game against home team Passi Titans.
